Eco+Historical was conceived as a company dedicated to honoring historic homes, re-envisioning and rebuilding them to make them more water and energy efficient, healthy, and appropriate for contemporary lifestyles...without losing the character that keeps them and the community they're part of rooted in their historical context.  We're both redevelopers and consultants, doing our own projects and helping others with theirs.

Founded in 2007 in San Francisco, California, Eco+Historical has had 5 Victorian homes, originally dating from 1885 to 1905, certified LEED Platinum by the US Green Building Council.  We do both our own bespoke projects and assist others with theirs, leveraging our experience in eco tech, floor plan optimization based upon usability research techniques, Smart Home tech, toxics abatement and energy and water efficiency.

Founder

Josh Mogal started off in the Computer Industry, eventually running marketing for a couple of startups over 15 years in Silicon Valley. After watching An Inconvenient Truth by Vice President Al Gore, Josh saw the light about the need to eliminate carbon emissions, starting Eco+Historical in 2007 to reduce the carbon footprint of Victorians and Edwardians in San Francisco.  He lives in San Francisco with his wife, Katy - a user experience leader at Google, their 12 year-old son, Aidan, and a pair of rescue dogs, Ellie and Lucas.
